Hi everybody,

We will lock the addresses in Backerkit and go ahead with fulfillment in about 1 week.

Please contact us at [email protected] if you have questions. (I can't find the link, did I get it right, last minute change, etc)

I will make the next update when the fulfillment starts.

Cheers,

Kawe

And another production update!
about 1 year ago – Mon, Mar 13, 2023 at 07:47:08 AM

Hi everybody!

I was squeezing poor Gregg for another in-depth production update!

-----------------------------------------------------------

Howdy everyone, Gregg here from Wyrm Forge again,

So we’ve been hammering away at Mork Borg over the last four weeks, and things are coming along. We’re approaching the finish line!
Overall I’m expecting us to start fulfillment in April, as long as nothing too crazy happens. (Probably mid to late, though I’d love to see it happen earlier!)
We’re currently sitting at around 75% complete with casting, 80% complete with production mold making, and roughly 50% complete with bagging.

Or looking at it another way, we’ve cast and accepted around 37,500 individual sprues out of right around 50,000 needed. We’ve also completed a staggering 320 production molds, out of the expected 400 needed.
Since the last update, Wretched Loyalty, Goblin w/Bow, Esoteric Hermit’s arm sprue, The Quest Giver along with its 3 additional parts, Pale One’s body, and Skelly Joe’s body were completed. The revised and slightly thickened Grotesque wings will wrap up today or tomorrow, and complete all the parts for the Grotesque finally.

Currently we are moving into casting the Esoteric Hermit’s body, without reworking the troublesome horns, and the Goblin w/Knife. I’m a bit worried still about the horns, corkscrew type shapes and silicone doesn’t mix well, but after enough trial and error we did figure out how to at least cut these out fairly nicely and produce the 14 full size production molds needed for this guy.

Skelly Joe’s head/shield sprue is in mold making, along with Gutter Born’s body and head/arm sprues.
After these are the final miniatures, being the Fanged Deserter and the MB Troll.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Fingers crossed - that's the last time I had to ask Gregg for this kinda update.

For this project anyway! :--)

Another production update from Wyrmforge - Fulfillment is expected to happen late March / early-mid April
about 1 year ago – Mon, Feb 06, 2023 at 09:00:26 AM

Howdy everyone, Gregg here from Wyrm Forge again, with another production update for you all.

In short we are behind, and are now looking at likely late March, or possibly early-mid April for fullment. Details below.

Overall we’re around 55% complete with casting, and around 45% complete with processing, final QA inspections, and bagging. We completed the heretical priest and herb master as well as the two undead dolls. Oh and most of Aland. Wait wasn’t Aland already done according to an earlier update?

The short of things is that we had a ton of breakage with Aland’s lamp as well as the Heretical Priest’s array of crosses once we started going through processing. Oh and attempts at producing the undead dolls lead to a ton of broken resin masters. They all share the same general problem. Really thin and delicate parts. The scissors of the one undead doll for instance measure 0.5mm thick. The chain that connects to the bottom of Aland’s lamp? Not a whole lot thicker.. While supporting a lot more.

We had to go back and re-work Aland’s lamp (and dagger hilt) to thicken the connection slightly, make a new master mold, make new production molds, and start re-casting several hundred pieces. With our favorite priest, we really just had to double down on QA and cast up a decent amount of replacements. The dolls, which were originally on a shared sprue, had to be separated into individual sprues, and twice the amount of production molds made. (20 molds for the two dolls.)

We’re currently producing the Wretched Royalty (recently fixed by Boris to also thicken some very thin sections of his collar) and the goblin with a bow. As well as the Esoteric Hermit’s sprue. These are going very well.

Unfortunately there are pieces to follow that we expect additional trouble with. The Esoteric Hermit looks like his horns may need to be split from his body. We’re also currently evaluating the Pale One in production format before making a ton of molds, as he is very thin in general. Skelly-Joe is also rather delicate (The pains of being a skeleton???). A few additional sprues like the gutter born’s arm and lantern also look like they may pose a problem.

We are powering through them, and we did expect Mork Borg to be a casting challenge, given a lot of the complexities of the models, which we’re quite good at tackling normally, but super thin and fragile bits is a another variable, that does explode when you are producing over a thousand of each model.

We were also testing out hiring some cutting/bagging help, but the initial tests of this didn’t go very well. Additional breakage while cutting, and of course an increase in bagging of broken bits or parts that have a casting defect, missed parts, etc. We really need people that not only know miniatures, but to be efficient, know these miniatures, and their individual common issues well. So for the moment, we’re just pulling some extra hours to try and tackle the processing side of this massive project.

Production Update - we're on track
over 1 year ago – Tue, Jan 10, 2023 at 12:21:14 PM

Happy New Year everybody!

I have a new production update from Wyrmforge for you guys.

Things are overall going smoothly, despite casting being down for around a week due to a vacuum pump failing. This might have been a good thing though as it did allow us to get some more processing of casted parts done. Including Adrian spending just about a week straight cutting and bagging.

We’ve completed around 40-45% of the casting at this point. All Westfalia addons are completed, the necromancer is done, and we will be wrapping up casting on our favorite heretical priest and herb master today or tomorrow.

The biggest challenge at the moment, is actually the cutting and bagging time needed to process everything. I’m starting to look at some options of bringing on some temporary help with that, as the rough math looks like it will take around 300 hours of cutting and bagging labor.

Overall though, things are looking good to hit a late Feb/March fulfillment.

And that's it!

Cheers Kawe & Gregg

Production Update from WyrmForge
over 1 year ago – Sat, Dec 10, 2022 at 03:32:33 AM

Hey everyone,

Gregg here with Wyrm Forge. Kawe asked us for a production update, and we’re happy to dive into it!

Things are moving along at a steady pace. At last count, we’ve completed casting and initial quality checks of 12,000 pieces of the roughly 50,000 that need to be produced. So close to around 25% complete with casting. This consists of most of the Westfalia catalog addons, as well as Mork Borg specific parts such as the two doors, Bent, the Philosopher, Wrat, Aland, and most of the Grotesque.

A few additional issues were discovered at the sub-mastering stage, with the Wretched Royalty, Gutter Born Scum, and Grotesque wings. Most of these being minor issues with some of the areas getting a bit thin. These have been sent back to Boris for adjustments, and we don’t expect it to impact the production timeline any, given the amount of work still to do.

Overall quite a number of miniatures are piling up in the casting room! All of these sealed containers are complete pieces for Mork Borg. Most have had an initial round of cutting performed to remove casting tabs, and will eventually make their way to bagging.

Currently we are producing around 700-1100 pieces a day. With production molds being poured and cut continuously as well.

Here you can see an example load out of our primary casting area. Most of the miniatures being at over a thousand units, is certainly a different experience when it comes to resin casting, where you are usually working with counts in the tens or hundreds. Really it just translates to an enormous amount of molds needed, given they don’t last terribly long, especially with the high detail and complex pieces that Boris gifts us with.

Thankfully though, it works out that basically each piece ends up with its own full tray of production molds, and gets casted for 5-7 days. There is actually a rarely experienced efficiency increase with this, as it ends up it's easier to fill, demold, and clean 8-10 identical molds, vs a plate full of different molds.

Anyways, things are looking good so far, and we appear to be on schedule, have a great holiday, and new year!
